Our Opinion: Good, small unit with a great view of the volcano and reasonable prices.

Nicely located in El Castillo, outside the whole hotel district of La Fortuna, with a splendid view of the volcano. The hotel was recently renovated and offers 3 types of rooms: standard, junior suite and "Moon Suite", all with a somewhat kitschy decoration. Restaurant with view, parking, walking trails.
Our Opinion: This hotel’s advantages are its formidable view on the volcano and the friendly service. The standard rooms are decent, but the junior suites are larger and offer more privacy.

This lodge occupies a unique position in the foothills south of the volcanoes Arenal and Chato, with views on "the monster" and on picturesque Lake Arenal. 37 rooms are divided into 5 categories. All rooms (capacity up to 5 people) are equipped with private bathroom and fan. Bar, restaurant with large terraces to observe the volcano, swimming pool.
Our Opinion: One of the first lodges to be frequented by volcanologists, currently offering the best view of Arenal Volcano. All rooms have been renovated. The villa is ideal for families or small groups.

“White Hawk Villa” is a large house, a little off the hotel part of Arenal Observatory Lodge (800m from the reception). The villa can accommodate up to 8 people. 2 bedrooms with private bathroom are on the ground floor; on the first floor you will find the dining room, a large lounge, kitchen facilities and a satellite TV. Parking spaces. Many tours, including: a trip to Chato volcano, a canoe trip on its Lagoon to a beautiful waterfall. Canopy tour. Access to the lodge with 4X4.

Friendly hotel by the dam of Lake Arenal, at the end of a long private road through forest and pastures. 3 room categories: standard, junior suite and cabins (situated a bit off). The latter two categories have a first class view on the volcano (which is 7.5km away). Bar and excellent restaurant with wonderful views.
Our Opinion: One might prefer staying in the junior suites, for their comfort and views.

Beautifully located in a rural setting off the hotel zone, facing the volcano’s north-east side, this small hotel offers 13 charming cottage-style bungalows. The spacious rooms with neat rustic furnishings are simple and comfortable. Small refrigerator and coffee machine. Jacuzzi, restaurant only for breakfast (next restaurant at 1km).
Our Opinion: Ideal for a stay in bucolic idyll.

A big resort with many facilities in front of the volcano Arenal. 40 wooden bungalows in 3 categories: standard rooms with fan, superior rooms with observation terrace and air conditioning, and suites with additional Jacuzzi. Good restaurant, hot water pool, Jacuzzi, bar, gift shop, walking trail to a pretty waterfall and spa.
Our Opinion: A good address from any point of view: comfortable, beautiful, close volcano view and a good restaurant (try the excellent Tilapia from Lake Arenal).

The hotel is perfectly located opposite the volcano, offering 50 chalet-like rooms of 2 categories located in beautiful gardens. The wooden standard rooms are simple but pleasant. The junior suites are larger and have more luxury. All rooms come with a terrace to observe the volcano. Restaurant, bar, spa with many treatments, Jacuzzi and sauna. Swimming pool with a bar within a gorgeous property.
Our Opinion: An excellent place to observe the volcano.
